NO School on Monday 9/4
TODAY IN 6A:

  • WEEKLY MASS
  • ENGLISH: students assembled Brainstorming/Freewriting/1st Draft/2nd Draft into packets; all others were given instructions to carryout over the 3-day weekend. (Come to school on Tuesday prepared with all papers).
  • MATH worked on star math
  • EARTHQUAKE DRILL
  • MUSIC MEETING 
  • LITERATURE: class re-read "Dragon, Dragon" pp.191-199; teacher demonstrated appropriate Literary Response format and let students work on p.199 #'s 1-6, and 8
  • ART
  • NOON DISMISSAL

6A HOMEWORK:

  1. MUST BE CHARGED ON TUESDAY  for STAR Testing 
  2. If you didn't get your Chromebook today--make sure you show up on Tuesday with signed paperwork and/or Chromebook Carrying Case. 
  • ENGLISH: ONLY if you didn't have all your papers today in class ==> do what you need to do and be prepared for class with ALL 4 Parts (Class notes/Video Reflection/1st Draft w/Peer Critique/Revised 2nd Draft) on Tuesday

TODAY IN 6A:
  • ENGLISH: students exchanged & wrote critiques for each others first drafts; remainder of period was used for students to make personal revisions
  • MATH corrected practice quiz
  • FIRE DRILL: not our best moment -__- (we practiced again at recess)
  • BAND ASSEMBLY
  • RELIGION: students finished and mounted journal covers; students recorded the 73 Catholic books of the Bible in their journals and brainstormed for Books of the Bible Presentations
  • LITERATURE: class learned about author, _______ and then read "Dragon, Dragon" (pp.190-199); teacher modeled appropriate/expected format for literary responses
  • GROUP RELIGION LESSON: 6A & 6B met to experience Meditational Prayer together and share written journal reflections aloud; "A Singing Heart" (Psalm 96:2) What makes my heart sing? What gives me a surge of great joy? How are such moments reflections of God's love for me?
  • SOCIAL STUDIES: Map Skills continued--class activities completed, discussed, and corrected
  • SCIENCE worked on notebooks
6A HOMEWORK:

  • RETURN ALL CHROMEBOOK/TECHNOLOGY PAPERS (signed of course) and a Chromebook carrying case. If you are prepared--you will get your Chromebook tomorrow. 

  • ENGLISH: re-read the student critiques on the back of your Rough Draft; take whatever suggestions you wish and make some of your own; REVISE, REVISE, REVISE and then type & print a 2nd Draft. Bring to class tomorrow.
  • SOCIAL STUDIES: 6A Only---finish handout from class

  • ENGLISH: Intro to Vocabulary Workshop; students did Audio-intro for Unit 1 and then played a review game on the SMARTBOARD; "Bullying Is Not Part of God's Plan" Lesson--class generated notes defining bullying (in its various forms); Bullying video and personal reflection
  • MATH: math books were distributed; students took review multiplication facts test, and then both math classes given diagnostic tests for teacher evaluation and lesson pacing
  • MUSIC
  • SPANISH
  • RELIGION: students worked to create "Inspired" religion journals while listening to Contemporary Christian music 
  • SOCIAL STUDIES: Map Skills lesson & review; Longitude and Latitude PowerPoint and notes; Practice activity done with partner
  • SCIENCE: introduction to Mr. Gray's class rules, student questions; students watched video of August 21, 2017 Solar Eclipse---followed by discussion 
6A HOMEWORK:
  • GRAY FOLDERS!! (get appropriate papers signed & returned by tomorrow)
  • ENGLISH: using your notes and reflection from today's lesson, write a meaningful piece on Bullying---titled Bullying Is Not Part of God's Plan; you may use biblical references/quotes/lines from poems/statistics/etc. This is YOUR piece. 
  • SOCIAL STUDIES: complete
