Today in 6A & 6B

ENGLISH: In advance of our first English test tomorrow, today was chapter review. Students worked independently through sections A-D of the chapter review on pages 27-29. We took up these answers together as a class and then edited, using our proofreading symbols, the passage in section E together. Students will be asked to edit a similar passage on their test tomorrow. There is no homework but students should study their iWords as well as the writing process that they have been working on this week.

LITERATURE: Since we reached the midpoint of our "Crash" reading, its' high time we captured some of our understanding. Students were tasked with creating a Digital Collage of 7-10 images that encapsulate the happenings of the book so far. Students were asked to write a sentence that explains each choice of imagery. If this was not submitted in class, it is homework.

RELIGION: Today we wrapped up session two of Unit 1, which explored God's creation and our role as stewards of this earth. This includes our treatment of other people, regardless of race or gender. We will have another open-book session quiz tomorrow.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Today we practiced our Analysis skills (p.24) in identifying the main point of each paragraph of a selection, differentiating between this and supporting information. Students then applied these concepts to the 5 Analysis questions at the top of p. 27 which reference texts earlier in the chapter (p.22/23). This work was completed in class. Students then engaged in a thought experiment which had them identify in what ways would our lives be similar to or different from early Homo sapiens should we be stranded on a desert island.
